Why do I keep getting an "Invalid key" error? Print E-mail

Question:
Why do I keep getting an "Invalid key" error when I try to install the editor? I know I am entering the key correctly, but it still will not work.

Answer:
It is most likely that you are trying to install SlickEdit® on a platform that you are not licensed to use. The CD has binaries for all of the platforms, however, the installation key you use will determine what platform you can install on.

You can find out what platform you are licensed to use by looking at the serial number. The following will show you what platform this key can be used to install on:

    WB = Microsoft® Windows®
    VLX = Linux®
    WL = Windows/Linux
    VL = Solaris™
    VMX = Mac OS®
    VHP = HP-UX®
    VR = AIX®
    VSG = IRIX®
    EE = Enterprise Edition (All Platforms)

If the characters are prefixed with an "F", this signifies that you have a FLEXlm version of the editor, and must setup a FLEXlm server to handle the licensing. If it ends with an "EP", this is an installation key for the Eclipse™ Plug-in. If you have purchased the wrong key, or need to purchase an installation key for another platform, please contact our sales department:
