Why do I get the following error when trying to install SlickEdit® 2008?
Client activation is not allowed to activate : 123ABC-1300-FXX123456. Check the license model to make sure a client can activate. [Incident #4621-282633] Error Code: 1.
Answer:
You will need to visit www.slickedit.com/flexnet/ for further instruction. The reason for the error message is because a concurrent SlickEdit License Fulfillment Code (which can be identified by the 'F' character at the beginning of the serial number) is being entered as a single user license when installing SlickEdit. It is not necessary to install SlickEdit with an License Fulfillment Code when using concurrent licensing, but setting the environment variable VSFLEX_LICENSE_FILE is required before the SlickEdit client is installed. If the license server up and running when SlickEdit is started, and VSFLEX_LICENSE_FILE has previously been set, SlickEdit will start as normal and will require no installation key.
