What is a workspace? Print E-mail

Question:
What is a workspace?

Answer:
A workspace (*.vpw) in SlickEdit® is simply a collection of projects (*.vpj).  The data for each workspace is stored in an XML file that has the extension .vpw.

The purpose of a workspace is to allow sharing of projects from other workspaces and to allow dependencies to be defined between projects.  Another advantage of using workspaces in SlickEdit is compatibility with other vendor's workspaces.  SlickEdit supports opening Visual C++® and Tornado™ workspaces, allowing more seamless integration with these products.  See the SlickEdit help topic on "Workspaces and Projects" for more information.
