Question:
How do I get my Tab key to insert a real tab character?

Answer:
Go to (Tools > Options > File Extension Setup on the "Indent" tab) and select the desired extension. Check the "Indent With Tabs" check box and click on the "OK" button.

Note that the fundamental extension is used for files with no extension or which are not in the list.
