Question:
I get the following error when I try to run Eclipse™:

A Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) must be available in order to run Eclipse. No Java virtual machine was found after searching the following locations…


Answer:
Java is not in the path. Modify logon scripts or the script used to launch Eclipse so that Java is in the path. The following example assumes the BASH shell:

export PATH=/usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2/bin:$PATH
