SlickEdit to Exhibit at Game Developers Conference 2006
SlickEdit Partners with NC State University Department of Computer Science
Morrisville, NC—Dec. 1, 2005 — SlickEdit Inc., provider of essential software development tools, announces its participation in the NC State University Department of Computer Science ePartnership Program. SlickEdit has sponsored the Senior Design Project, “Ruby Support for SlickEdit”.
SlickEdit Inc. has supported the project team as it has worked to add support for the Ruby programming language to the next major release of SlickEdit. SlickEdit is a multi-platform, multi-language code editor designed for power programmers. Ruby is a reflective, object-oriented programming language. It combines syntax inspired by Ada and Perl with Smalltalk-like object-oriented features, and also shares some features with Python, Lisp, Dylan and CLU.
The project has required that the students write a parser for Ruby within an object-oriented parsing framework provided by SlickEdit, and implement language support within the SlickEdit macro language. The following programming languages were used to implement this project: C/C++ and Slick-C, SlickEdit’s macro language.
“We are pleased to have had the opportunity to sponsor one of the senior design teams from NC State this year,” said Scott Westfall, Director of Software Development. “It is a pleasure to work with such bright minds. SlickEdit is always happy to help further education within the community.”
The completed project will be presented alongside other senior projects during NCSU Computer Science Senior Design Center's "Posters & Pies". The event will be held on Monday, December 5, 2005 from 1:00 - 3:30 pm at North Carolina State University in the Stewart Theatre within the Talley Student Center. Each of the student teams will give a brief overview of their senior design projects, followed by demonstrations and poster displays.
